Tajpur Overview

Tajpur “ A beach for yourself”. In fact, one may get a feeling of ‘owning’ the beach. Tajpur is one of the most secluded beaches in India. Tajpur beach lies in the Purba Medinipur district of South Bengal, one of the southern districts of West Bengal. It is almost 180 Km from Kolkata. It lies on the Kolkata - Digha route and just 16 Km before Digha. Tajpur is one of Bengal’s recently discovered tourist destination that lies close to ever-popular Mandarmoni and Shankarpur. This beach is slowly becoming popular among the tourists, although the beach here is usually exposed only when the tide ebbs. The casuarina trees, kissed by the gentle breeze at Tajpur are a soothing sight.

Our Tour...

We started on 2nd October morning from Babughat on our hired Sumo. Our members met at this point. Our booking was at Swapnapuri Resorts. We reached Tajpur at 1 p.m. The weather was hot and humid throughout the way to Tajpur. Here at least we enjoyed the sea breeze. The staff members of the resort were very co operative and never gave us a chance to complain.
Mr. Bose, our senior most member was always active and never let us stay in the room. After lunch, due to Mr. Bose's initiative we started exploring the virgin beach. It was a great experience to witness the sunset at Tajpur beach.

The night was cool at Tajpur. We visited Digha in the evening. It is just 17 km from Tajpur. We just roamed in the markets at Digha and returned back to our den. Though is no electricity at Tajpur, but the resorts have generators running 24 hours at our service. Swapnapuri has their own restaurant and the cook is a masterpiece. They served all kind of snacks and dinner was great.

Next day we again explored the beach and the fishermen's village. The lagoon of Tajpur is marvelous. We had no idea that still there is any place in Bengal where we can quietly spend a nice weekend.
